Instagram Introduces New Features For Hidden Comments

Instagram hiding comments has rolled out a new way for users to hide comments on their posts, as well as others’. The feature allows users to choose to hide likes, comments and other engagement data from the public view on photos, videos or carousel posts they make.

Can my followers see my comments on Instagram?

The company said in a blog post that the option is intended to give people “the power to tailor how they want to interact with others and protect themselves from negativity.” It comes after the company introduced warnings in comment and caption fields that ask people to take a step back before posting offensive language.

Users can activate the new feature by tapping more options in the three horizontal dots menu in the top right corner of a post, then selecting Hide comments. They can also set a timer to automatically hide comments after a certain period of time.

Additionally, users can tap Advanced comment filtering to hide comments that contain words, phrases and emojis that Instagram has determined are inappropriate. They can also add custom words and phrases that Instagram should look for in comments, message requests or both. They can edit this list at any time.

Additionally, users can use the Hide messages request setting to hide comments that appear in private message requests from people they follow or who are following them. This feature is currently only available on the Instagram app for iOS and Android. Instagram says it will be coming to the web version of the site and its other apps in the future.
